    Default Carthage: The Roman Holocaust

The Carthaginians were the super power of the western Mediterranean world in the 6th century BCE. These videos talk about them in a more positive light.

This is how Punic sounded like:

It sounds much more closer to biblical Hebrew than the modern one really. Punic sounds very Central Semitic in general.

Well, he may was Rome's greatest enemy, but they did had respect for him at the same time. The reason why the Carthaginians lost is due to the internal conflict within Hannibal's mercenary armies and etc. When Rome destroyed Carthage that doesn't meant that the Punic culture was destroyed with it but rather infused with the Roman culture of North Africa.

Yes, but they built a new one on top of the soil they threw on which is a life savior for archaeologists, lol. The new city that was built on top of it called Carhtago became the capital of the Roman African province called Africa Proconsularis.

Yeah, but it's culture is a mixture between local Carthaginian/Punic and Roman, so there wasn't much trouble assimilating the locals.
