Default The Death of the American Dream and Forced Minimalism

Is the American Dream Dead? Are we being forced into minimalism just to get by?

Wake up and smell the coffee.

The minimalism is inevitable future for 90% of world's population. We consume too much stuff we don't actually need. It will be hardest for developed countries, their consumption is too high they have biggest fall ahead of them.

There is nothing wrong with a certain minimalism - but there is a lot wrong with enforced poverty while the rich take everything.

It's like going back to an era in France before the revolution where 97% of the population were poor while the rest were the rich and powerful..yes, the middle class of the world are disappearing.

Indeed. And the outcome will be the same:

Revolution. Only this time around, the troops may not be so willing to defend their leaders.

The New York Times bestselling, groundbreaking investigation of how the global elite's efforts to "change the world" preserve the status quo and obscure their role in causing the problems they later seek to solve. An essential read for understanding some of the egregious abuses of power that dominate today’s news.

Former New York Times columnist Anand Giridharadas takes us into the inner sanctums of a new gilded age, where the rich and powerful fight for equality and justice any way they can--except ways that threaten the social order and their position atop it. We see how they rebrand themselves as saviors of the poor; how they lavishly reward "thought leaders" who redefine "change" in winner-friendly ways; and how they constantly seek to do more good, but never less harm. We hear the limousine confessions of a celebrated foundation boss; witness an American president hem and haw about his plutocratic benefactors; and attend a cruise-ship conference where entrepreneurs celebrate their own self-interested magnanimity.

Giridharadas asks hard questions: Why, for example, should our gravest problems be solved by the unelected upper crust instead of the public institutions it erodes by lobbying and dodging taxes? He also points toward an answer: Rather than rely on scraps from the winners, we must take on the grueling democratic work of building more robust, egalitarian institutions and truly changing the world. A call to action for elites and everyday citizens alike.

In Europe, yes, but not in America since the US army and the police are willing to kill many innocent Americans since Obama made sure that a coup in America would be impossible. I call these guys as "green niggers", and really, they're nothing more than ZOG enforces of the country and elsewhere in the world. You Europeans need to free yourselves from the clutches of America which is the international central command of Zionist Jewry while Israel is the hive mind of it.

Ralph Nader is an American independent politician of Lebanese Christian heritage, and he never hesitated to say about the Zionist corruption of America.

Affordability is largely about income and cost of living, both vary significantly. I had a larger suburban house and collected a lot stuff I did not need. Got rid of most of it and moved back into the city.

I think consumerism and "keeping up with the Joneses" is part of the issue. People will go into to great debt financing some McMansion when they should be in a more modest house, condo, or apartment that they can afford. A lot of it is ego.
