Why USSR "Had No Serial Killers".

There is very little information about Russian serial killers out there, and that's because the Soviet Union doesn't let any of that information out to the public, but we found one Russian serial killer that made headlines so big they couldn't cover it up.

This one murdered 78 women. I think his crimes were commited in the post-Soviet era too.



This Soviet serial killer cut his victims eyes out. He was nicknamed asthe Butcher of Rostov, the Red Ripper, and the Rostov Ripper, and he sexually assaulted, murdered, and mutilated at least 43 women and children between 1978 and 1990.

What country are we talking about here? The USSR consisted of 15 nations.

Whoever made the video is ignorant. There was no 'serial killers', that's true. Because we called them maniacs and they were very well known and studied phenomena since 1920's.

There was no censorship around the issue. Sure there was no publicity about it like it was in US but anyone interested was able to get general information. Everybody knew there were people like that but naturally very few people wanted to know specifics about such dark topic.

That 'lack of forensic evidence gathering techniques and general ignorance about serial killer phenomena' at the end made me chuckle. The fella is quite bold in his ignorant claims.

The main reason for fewer serial killers in USSR was different social organization. Soviet psychiatry was very well established and incorporated into education system. Many dangerous deviations were recognized at early ages and preventive measures were taken. Sure it may sounds like breach of human rights to Westerners but the effects of this practice are quite telling. Today there are far more dangerously troubled individuals in Russian society than it was some 30-40 years ago.
