I have played around a little but having a bit of a difficulty picking a good model for myself and my mother who are of wholly Irish ancestry.

This is what I get using adding the samples to the ancient averaged spreadsheet.

This Gaelic sample was the one who shared most drift with Donegal, Argyll and Hebrides. My mother appears the match this sample better than myself.

The Morrigan (also Mórrigan or Morrigu) is one of the most mysterious figures in Irish mythology.
The name Morrigan means 'phantom queen' (or 'great queen') and describes a Goddess from old Ireland that was very associated with war, destiny, fate and death.
She was a shape-shifter and frequently appeared as a black crow, an ominous sign for those who saw her prior to battle. Legend has it that the Morrigan was in fact a triad of sisters, often named as Badb, Macha and Nemain, while the Morrigan is also remembered as the triad of the land Goddesses Ériu, Banba and Fódla.

Where can we find ancients newly updated spreadsheet? Grace don't you cluster between Ireland and Iceland? I know you're fully Irish. Is that typical for some particular region of Ireland?

You got higher than me. I'd really like to see where these samples plot. I hope they can add some more of the Icelandic samples to the G25 because as well as the Norse samples the Gaelic samples are the only Gaels we have at present and it is interesting to see how they compare to people today.

This particular Gaelic sample is closer to people from Donegal, Argyll and Hebrides and all these areas were more isolated so it is a good example of a Gael around the Viking times. There are some more Gaelic samples but they aren't as good as this one. Hopefully they will be able to add them to the G25. Thanks to Peterski as he has done a great amount of work.

This is the latest ancient spreadsheet. These samples should be added in a day or two.

Unfortunately due to ancient DNA damage (causing noise) only the best quality ones could be added to G25:

Two from >80% Norse and two from >80% Gaelic groups as well as several from the Mixed group made it:

Look at this, top 50 closest ancient populations for the Gaels (using scaled coordinates):
