On Friday, federal agents under the direction of counter espionage authority ASIO, conducted an extraordinary raid on the home and office of New South Wales Labor MP, Shaoquett Moselmane. Investigators were searching for evidence of any involvement by Moselmane in a plot by China to interfere in Australia’s political system. It’s thought to be the first time a serving member of an Australian parliament has been investigated over allegations of being influenced by a hostile foreign state. Reporting for 60 MINUTES, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, Nick McKenzie was there for the raid and says the agents clearly knew what they were looking for. McKenzie, who for months has also been observing Moselmane’s pro-China activities, warns this operation will have far-reaching consequences both here and in Beijing.

In another thread, Duffmann said that Australia and NZ would do better in the long-term than Europe and North America because their non-white immigrants are mostly Chinese rather than Arab, African or Latin American. Well, I am increasingly sceptical of the idea that being ever-more influenced by the CCP is really that much better than being ever-more influenced by Islam.

The non-white immigrants are increasingly Indians/South Asians

I think Indians are the either the second or third largest source of migrants behind China and or England and New Zealand

East Asia is developing rapidly so they're not migrating that much anymore. A lot of them are staying back home due to the comforts many regions of east asia offer now due to urbanization/development.

Yes East asians still are a larger portion right now in australia but south asians are growing at a much higher rate. According to 2019 stats there are as many indian foreign nationals as chinese ones. Add srilankans and nepalese as well since they add up more than koreans/japanese. I'm not sure if you'd consider viets, filipinos as "east asian" but they're growing too. The standard CJK asians are not growing much though in australia in comparison to south asians.

A six-month joint investigation by 60 MINUTES, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald has exposed a corporate scandal unlike anything Australia has seen before.

China Australia tensions are at an all time high, after Australia called for an independent investigation into the origin of the coronavirus. Chinese foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian famously tweeted a fake image of an Australia soldier doing something not nice, tying in to an investigation about Australia Afghanistan activities. China as launched a major trade war on Australia, putting tariffs on Australian wine, lobsters, and even the China iron ore they so desperately need. Joining us today to talk about it is Australian Senator Eric Abetz, who has spoken up about the Chinese Communist Party's influence in Australia.

Revenge! China Australia relations are taking a turn for the worse. Europe signs a controversial deal with China. Uyghur Slave Labor is being used by Apple Suppliers. Hong Kong activists are sentenced. That and more on this week's China news headlines!

Wake up and smell the coffee.

The stronger anti-China sentiment in Australia over the last year or two is refreshing at least. The last few decades of Oz politics have been all about sucking up to the Chinese, in a sickening way. That hit it's zenith with Kevin Rudd.

You need a Navy to get your army across though.. USN is huge with plenty of bases in the region, Chinese air force is mainly shore based with more limited range
