This map shows the political stage of each part of Europe, and this is what's most influential in determining what a country is like. In the Western part of Europe there are clear ideas about what a society should be by the people in power, and this is reflected in all facets of society.

The East was left behind economically by communism, and so it is behind the West in term of wealth and social degeneration, while Scandinavia was a very wealthy and advanced part of the world before any other region, and this has lead to it being more socialist, socially democratic, and morally degenerate than anywhere else.
