Ikavian reflex is consequence of Latin influence on Slavic speech. Exist only in western Balkan where Rome had strong input, and in Ukraine (in part with significant Vlach input - Rusyn area). Ukrainian ikavism is younger, it's obsserved first time in the late middle age, interesting when happened massive Vlach migrations to the W. Ukraine.
