Thank you. I can hear similarities with English news reporters. What does ABN stand for please? It's nice to hear the Standaardnederlands form of Dutch pronunciations, although I also like the pleasant sounds and the soul and feeling attached to the regional pronunciations and dialects too.

    Twente (far East):

    De Graafschap/Achterhoeks:

Together with Drenths - they form the Saxon dialects (Groningen is, up to a degree, influenced by Low Saxon as well).

Groningen (the singer came from Warffum and died in Delfzijl so he didn't stick around his original village but it's close to his original area so the dialects would have been similar).

Drenthe (the group is from Erica in South-East Drenthe and the dialect therefore has a lot in common with Twenthe):

    Overijssel:

Some respond in dialect but dialect is dying out.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Wow, the Netherlands certainly has a large variety of dialects given the size of the country. The Saxon dialect reminds me of English. It's sad though that some of the Dutch dialects are dying out.

I also think it's very important to preserve the beautiful Dutch language in the future as it's an integral part of the Dutch cultural heritage and identity.

This is what you get when politics, the media and the education system are purely in standard-Dutch. The whole system is pretty much geared towards Hollandisation. Before the war, provincial flags were pretty much banned (there was an impromptu attempt at creating them in 1938) and the use of Frisian in any official capacity was banned until 1951. The use of dialect was heavily discouraged in the education system until the 1990s (speaking dialect meant that you were uneducated and not modern).

The last words during sentences (in UK English) goes down at the end of a sentence (and is only raised up and higher at the end of a sentence if one is unsure of something, or if one is asking a question.... although they annoyingly do this a lot in the US even when they're not asking a question.) The intonation goes down towards the end of a sentence in UK English if the sentence is a flat statement and not a question. I can hear similarities with very similar Dutch intonations as UK English.

Sounds unique to me in contrast to other Germanic languages. My first video when I first heard the Dutch language:

Yeah, I know that it's a skit, but it's very funny, lol.
