Former Co-Leader
Alexander Gauland announced to not run for the position again, due to his age.
The incumbent leader Jörg Meuthen was re-elected. He is a West German economist.
The Co-Leader position is now held by Tino Chrupalla a East German Blue Collar man.
The new leadership united East and West Germans in the AfD, Intellectuals and the Working Class.
The new aim is to go for a coalition with the CDU in the near future, the CDU will likely face a shift to the right, after Merkel resigned.
