The Near East has always been Israel and Palestine in our media. Don't know why.

I don't like being called Turkish or Arab (as for my heritage). I'd much rather Levantine, Phoenician, Eastern Mediterranean or Caananite, thank you very much.

I don't like Middle Eastern either, it sounds Islam-ish. West Asian is not my cup of tea but I much prefer it over Middle Eastern. Near Eastern also sounds better.

Eastern Mediterranean sounds the most suitable to me when referring to the Levant, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, northern coast of Egypt maybe.

"West Asian" is less constructed than is "Middle Eastern", therefore I prefer the former.

East Med sounds good, but I wouldn't apply it for Mesopotamians and Iranians. It is more appropriate for people who live beside the Med Sea, such as Israelis, Palestinians, Syrian and the Lebanese.

IMO, Middle East is effectively West Asia+Egypt. Egypt is also geographically in north Africa but it is culturally more linked to west Asia, therefore in the Middle East.

I want to make it clear that while I prefer using Middle Eastern to west Asian I definitely do not subscribe to the idea of the "Greater Middle East" which only exists in the minds of braindead Ameritards. If you don't know, it includes everything from Morocco to Pakistan.

West Asia is more geographical term

MENA sounds more masculine and terrorist. Spicy overall ...

In my country west Asia or middle east don't exist as term, only near east. In the past orient. But in English these names do make sense.

+1, I would only add Georgia to West Asia and exclude Maghrebis from Middle Eastern grouping.

I don't like the term West Asia. You're excluding like half of the Arab world that's in North Africa.
