Default Alfred the Great & the Anglo Saxons

Alfred the Great is said to be the founder of what would become the English monarchy. We will explore Alfred's life, the Anglo Saxon and Viking background, and the wars Alfred won to establish his kingdom. Ryan M. Reeves (PhD Cambridge) is Assistant Professor of Historical Theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

The savior of England and the English language. Our world would be completely different had it not been for Alfred managing to curb up the Norse from assimilating the Anglo-Saxons into speaking old Norse, though I know on the fact that the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings intermarried with one another in Danelaw. It's not only the English who got some Norse admixture in them but the Scots and the Irish as well. Call me old fashioned but I like Germanic names a hell a lot more than Latin/Romance names.
