Default Which do you consider more detrimental to your language: immigration or tourism?

This question is especially aimed at non-English speakers. Is the prominence or even existence of your language undermined more by immigrants or tourists in your region or country? Do you resent having to speak a foreign language to deal with either group?

I think that not speaking English in the 21st century in the civilized world makes you look like a fool. Unless you live in a village with the nearest town being 100 km. away from you and find visiting your capital city to be a big deal, you have no excuse to live in Europe and not speak English. There are tourists in my city all year long and I always use English in my communication with them. Sometimes I have used German, too.

Now, referring to immigrants, I think they should learn the language of the country they live in.
I'm not very fond of some Greeks I have met living in Bulgaria for 10 years and speaking no to very little Bulgarian (then again, there are others who learn the language relatively fast and well). The Asian societies in my city (Chinese, Vietnamese) learn Bulgarian fast. They are good traders and prosper.

What are the main nationalities of tourists where you are? Have you met any who at least try out some Bulgarian?

I don't have to speak a foreign language to an immigrant, and to a tourist i don't need to speak at all, but it's good for practicing English speech.

Immigration, yes, but above all globalism and anglo-american cultural imperialism. Nothing bad, mind you, about learning and being proficient in the current lingua franca, but it shouldn't overweight the local language as it's happening, with people using english words in the middle of nowhere when there are perfectly adequate local words to describe the same thing, especially politicians. This is what bothers me, one can be proficient in both without butchering the local tongue, and if some new concept is introduced within the english language e.g technological terms, it's a chance for the local language to develop new words, it's not like we lack the roots and the literary tradition.

Due to immigrants here where they make up more than 87% of the total population, so I need to speak English to them and so on. As for tourists, it's the same thing as well.

Yeah, the Gulf Arab countries put most of Europe and even the US to shame in terms of the sheer percentage of immigrants. (Not saying I think it is a good thing, just stating a fact).

People from at least three continents (Europe, Asia and North America) visit my city all year long. Sometimes South Americans, too.
Main nationalities among tourists: English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, American, Thai, Vietnamese, Polish, Turkish, Italian. Less common include Brazilians, Argentines, Peruvians, Jewish, Dutch, Swedes, Armenians and Georgians, to name a few.
Germans try to speak Bulgarian the most out of these.
