Kalmyks are ethnic Oirats and thus a Mongolic subgroup. The name Kalmyk is a Turkic/Kazakh exonym. Based on the comments of the video about their language, Khalkha Mongols could fully understand their language, so it's basically Mongolian with maybe minor Turkic and possibly Russian influence rather than being intermediate.

I was talking about sounding of languages. Kalmyk language sounds Turkic in comparison to Mongolian proper. Kalmyks adopted Turkic sounds which are absent in Mongolian and they don't have some important Mongolian sounds.

Kalmyk sounds like intermediate between Mongolian and Turkic.

I downloaded photos which were classified as being of Kalmyks and Armenians from the website of Kunstkamera, which is the Russian equivalent of the Smithsonian Institution. I excluded photos which classified as being of two or more ethnicities. I then used OpenCV and ImageMagick to crop out faces from the photos, and I selected the cropped images which matched the following criteria: 1) the image actually contained a face; 2) I estimated the person in the image to be Kalmyk or Armenian; 3) I estimated the person in the image to be between approximately 15 and 50 years old; 4) the image was not very low-quality; 5) the person in the image was facing the camera fairly directly; 6) the person in the image was not included in another image which I had selected; and 7) the image was recognized by the Python package I use to create morphs.

Here's morphs of the images I selected. The Armenian female morph ended up looking completely dead-eyed and degenerated. The Armenian male morph didn't end up looking so bad, but I suspect that's because it only consists of 4 images.
