Well, those Cambodians are over 15% South Asian (might be Australoid too?) and Vietnamese are only 5% South Asian which is a significant difference. I just thought they were more Australoid admixed because they are somewhat close to Indonesia who I think it has a significant Melanesian and Australoid influence, specialy in the east islands but also in the west. Also I watched all those movies about the Vietnam War (like Apocalypse Now) and many of the Vietnamese fighters and/or common people were in reality Filipino background actors because at least Apocalypse Now was shooted in a Filipino Island, and many of them looked too "brown" for me to be East Asian.

Vietnamese look more Chinese than Cambodians and Thais do. Also some Vetnamese have monolids. It may be 'cause of mixing with Chinese. Also Filipinos are most Chinese-looking after Vietnamese.

For the skintones, yes, Southeast Asians are mostly dark. But sometimes Vietnamese can be light skinned, especially the northern ones.

Many of them seem to be somewhat similar to Cantonese Han Chinese people but they (Vietnamese in this case) seem to carry some Melanesian/Australoid component into them, something that I sense all Eastern Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Mongols and Koreans) lack.

north vietnam is closer to chinese in physical appearance but south Vietnam looks more south east asian.
