What would you do if you find out you are a Gypsy?

I dont think you can find out that you are gypsy if you do not have a gypsy identity. Maybe only if you were adopted from bulgaria or romania as child and you live in the USA. But if you live in europe and you were not adopted I dont think you can find out you are a gypsy, if you do not have the identity or ancestry. Doesnt make sense to me. So you dont need to worry. And if you are 1-2% southasian and you are not a gypsy, it could be speculated it is "cuman" or something, I dont think you will be a gypsy because of less then one or one percent southasian. If you are 10% southasian or more you most likely know you are a gypsy or have gypsy ancestry.

Anyway i asked him because he seemed to make often snarky comments with regards to Gypsies in your threads and question"wether realistic" or not is not irrational with regard to the threads topic ,so what would he do..

He is not the only one, many make snarky remarks. 99.99% of people find out what they already know or very similar. Adopted is different and if you live in a very multicultural place and you are adopted. In europe if you are significantly gypsy it is impossible that you dont recognise it.

Sure but going by the threads topic it was rather an abstract hypothetical question

I believe here in New World things are way different, people are usually proud when they are out of their countrymen spectrum. As example in Chile, anyone who are not only Spanish/Amerindian like to portray how 1/8 german, croatian, palestine, russian, jew, greek or whatever they are

I tested myself ion several sites: At 23andMe and AncestryDNA, and later at MyHeritage. The earliest results overloaded me with a huge amount of Italian, which was measured at 54%. It wasn't corrected for several years, and my first conclusion was that there must be a genetic overlap that caused them to misjudge much of my Armenian ancestry, and identified it as Italian. Anyway, I was quite happy to see it turn out that way, because I like Italians, and I told a number of people, only to find out, years later, that they were in error. So, it wouldn't upset me, but I'd probably conclude that there was an error, which in fact was the case. More recent results have boosted my Germanic and Western European Components, as well as my Armenian Component, while the Italian component has been slashed down. Now, the Italian component is 18% at 23andMe and 32% at AncestryDNA, while both my Germanic and Armenian components have both become significant factors too.

It depends on what line I would be different ethnicity - on paternal or maternal.

If it would be on paternal line I would be confused and somewhat upset, but if on maternal line - I would care not so much. (Most likely on maternal line I am already and I may be partly Russian (and/or Finno-Ugric) but I can live with that and still consider myself pure blooded Armenian

I’m already dark, so the last thing I would need is a caravan and learn my mother to read future from the cards.
