For Quebec "French mother tongue" is used (because many French people there declare "Canadian" ethnicity).
For other Canadian provinces a sum of French + Acadian + Quebecois ethnicities (figures from 2016 census).
For U.S. states a sum of French + French Canadian + Acadian/Cajun ancestries (1980 and 1990 censuses).
Regions that are >10% French:
CAN Quebec - 76.2%
USA Vermont - 31.3%
USA New Hampshire - 30%
CAN New Brunswick - 26%*
USA Maine - 26%
USA Louisiana - 23%
USA Rhode Island - 22%
CAN Prince Edward Island - 21%

*I've seen posts by one Acadian user on another forum saying over 30% in New Brunswick are French.
