    Fagaras was often an autonomy within Wallachia during history. Maybe some Vlach isolates, given the mountainous terrain. But he also inherits only half from his father, so maybe by a stroke of luck he received mostly the Vlach part of his Romanian ancestry.

    Culturally: South Moldavia > Transylvania > North Moldavia = Maramureș

    Many people think equate being poor and trashy with "Balkan" in Romania, as this word is a stigma one has to disavow himself of, just like in Croatia. When you are called Balkan, sneering is the most appropriate thing you can do. North Moldavia is indeed poor and more corrupt, but let's not forget Ukraine and Russia are the same.

    It's probably a combination of not inheriting Slavic admixture from my father by chance plus the supposedly Vlach oriented Fagaras heritage. It was documented as an autonomous Vlach/Romanians population going back at least to the early 13th Century so many that kept it in isolation.
