Which of these two statements regarding European groups is closer to the truth?

IMO it is (2). I would estimate that, depending on the country and region, 40-50% of Scandinavians look like the Nordic stereotype. By contrast, only around 15-25% of Southern Europeans look like the Mediterranean stereotype, again depending on the country and region. (This is excluding Slovenes and Croats, who don't really look Med that often at all).

Imo it's true Scandos are very blonde, well I've only been to Sweden but it was enough for me to see they're very blonde

While the average Southern European is darker and distinc looking from Central and Northern ones (even the brunettes), their darkness is overrated, it's not like average Iberians look NA or average Southern Italians/Greeks look Levantine/West Asian (despite the fact that I think they overlap more with "white" looking Turks than Germans, for example).

Yes I agree that most Southern Europeans are dark-haired and dark-eyed, but the thing is that their hair is usually medium or dark brown rather than raven black, and the majority of them have fair skin (when unexposed) - in contrast to the majority of North Africans and Middle Easterners.

From my point of view it's the number 1 and for southern europeans I have the impression that they are heavily whitewash on these kind of forums at least based on what I see on a daily basis and what I saw when I went to south europe but don't get me wrong I'm not saying that they don't look european or that they are closer to MENA people in terms of phenotypes but simply that they are not as light in terms of pigmentation, eye color and hair color as what we can see here definitely. That's just my humble opinion.

Sure the blonds posted here are not the most average looking folks in southern Europe, but are not uncommon either.
