Let's see.. when is the last time you lot fought against regular forces ? A while back, no ? And why ? Because you kept losing. The Brits are still in the game. The British actually fought against regular empires in India - and won. The Brits won in two world wars - and won. The Brits fought in Iraq - and won. Now as for the Spanish record... the last big international war you were in, you lost. Against both a bunch of rebels (Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines) and regular forces (the newly formed Filipino army and the Americans). The Rif War you only won because of France joining the fight. And the rest ? Well.. not a victory in sight.

The same goes for much of the 17th and 18th centuries. The Netherlands got occupied in World War II but at least managed to give the Germans one hell of a bloody nose (a quarter of their air force and much of their elite paratrooper force gone.). Before that, in other wars, they had stomped regular AND guerilla forces in Java, Bali, Sumatra and others during colonial wars. They had a proven record - not you.
