I'm yet to see a documented case with such sentence. So far this kind of stories seems like one of numerous myths created in late 1980's - 1990's.

Denied? Are you sure? As far as I'm aware it was rather lack of supplies. There wasn't enough blank passports printed in the country. Mostly due to lack of demand. People living in rural areas only needed passports when migrating to cities. Otherwise it's pointless document. Only after war people in USSR started to move around so much the passport became an important part of identification procedure inside the country and was issued to everyone. However it's true it has taken a while to catch up with demand.

But this importance of personal ID is rather unique to Russia and few other countries, vast majority of people around the world only getting passports when they need to travel abroad. I would estimate at least 50% of people around where I currently live have no passports through their entire lives. They simply don't need them.

So to me this entire story of passport denial is just another myth created for dramatic purposes out of thin air. You shouldn't believe everything Solzhenitsyn wrote.

I don't think industrial revolution is a "revolution" in the same sense of word with the others you listed.

It is in the sense it dramatically changed the country where it began, and was duly exported elsewhere later on.

True, but pre-revolutionary French figures influenced us and their Revolution aided our period of birth and growth into a Federal Republic. The Revolution Started with the Revolutionary War but extended to the War of 1812.

That's funny - one thing all the founding fathers and early US presidents had in common is that they refused to take sides in Europe's wars and revolutions.
