Had a look at the surname Fordell and that line looks gone in Scotland. You don't see it in modern records but you do around Angus in old records. The name somehow sounds very familiar to me.

There seems to have been lots of movement from our East Coast to places like Poland, Russia, Finland, Sweden & Norway.

Thanks for the information. As I already updated, it seem that the ealiest occurrence of the nane Fordell in Sweden is from 1420. So I don't think that he can be connected to Roses, rather to the Scottish movements.

All my 32 great-great-great grandparents were Irish. By county:

Louth 12/32
Down 9/32
Tyrone 4/32
Armagh 4/32
Monaghan 2/32

That adds up to 31 not 32 because for one of my x3 great grandparents I'm not sure where he was born. The Scottish census where he was living at the time just says 'Ireland' for his place of birth and I haven't been able to trace it back any further.
