Closer to full Euro and predominately European Latin Americans (castizos and Criollos) than to Portuguese for linguistic reasons, but closer to Portuguese than to more mixed Latin Americans.

This is what I think an Spanish would consider more close to.
    Genetically: Portuguese.
Historically: Both in general ( it will depend on what area of Spain is located the person)
Economically: Latin America due to business with the region.
Culturally: Latin America due to common language. Language is one extremely important asset of integration and identity. Even more than the race or physical traits probably.

The Spaniards I've chat with majority of them would prefer latin americans over Portuguese some said to me "their culture and language are completely alien to them"
