An introductory picture on the infantry of the English Civil War armies, reflecting on British military developments in their distinctive features and their relationship with Continental warfare. In the video we are mainly concerned with highlighting the progressive shift between the pike & shot and the linear tactics that occurred during the English Civil War, given the particular political, social and military context. Among the things we talk about are the differences between Parliamentary and Royalist infantry, the interaction between pikemen and musketeers and the influence of Dutch and Swedish tactics in British Warfare.
