European and Levantine immigrants in Colombia

So I make this thread to discuss the aforementioned immigration that took place in Colombia in earlier centuries and that might still be an occurrence, official figures, notable people and so on.

I'd like to start off by posting some examples of notable people of Levantine background. Most Middle Easterns that immigrated to Colombia were from the Levant region e.g. Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and practised the Christian faith. They were seeking to flee the Ottoman Empire and were in search of better economic opportunities.

They settled mainly in coastal cities like Barranquilla and Santa Marta but also settled in Bogota, Santanderes region and Valle del Cauca. Antioquia didn't take in a lot of Levantine immigrants because they were weary of them and their commercial skills. The local sellers saw them as a threat. It's possible to stumble across some Levantine immigrants in Antioquia, nonetheless. There's also a big diaspora of Sephardic Jews there but that's a different story...

There was also a minor influx of Muslim Levantines in the 20th century. They can be found in large numbers in places like La Guajira, especially Maicao, which hosts the second largest mosque in Latin America after the King Fahd Islamic Cultural Centre in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I consider Colombia a strongly colonial nation with important euro input.

The highland around Bogota and Medellin have at least half of their population being harnizos, castizos and whites.

The Atlantic Coast with cities like Barranquilla and Cartagena dont have many euro shifted pardos, but they have a good number of whites, probably on pair or more than Bogota. Maybe its even perceive because of the contrast that is much bigger in this region than in the highlands.

The Pacific Coast is very non white and also have few half euros. Maybe is on pair with Bolivia and Republics of Central America.

Barranquilla and Santa Marta have many Euro/Levantine shifted mixed people. It's probably the region with the most immigrants overall, too, along with Bogota. Cartagena's demographics are different.

The Pacific Coast is predominantly Afro-descendant.
