About the ethnogenesis of the Volga Tatars -
The anthropology of the Volga Bulgaria/Middle Volga has not much changed since the arrival of the Turkic Bulgarians in the 7-8th century, which were both Caucasoid and Caucasoid-Mongoloid mixed people(The scholar data).
Hgs of Mishar Tatar of Penza: sample - 50 people.
E1b1b1 - 4%, I1 - 2%, I2a - 2%, J1 - 2%, J2a - 4%, J2b2 - 38%, L - 6%,
N1c1 - 2%, O - 2%, Q1b - 12%, R1a1a - 14%, R1b1a - 4%, T - 2%.
Another sample of Mishars (80 people) showed a different hg ratio, but 0% N1c.
The Mishars have a Finnic-Ugric Hg N1c, but possible a lot of less than the Kazan Tatars (25-28%).
The time of the divergency between the Tatar subclades of different hgs and the European ones is the Bronze / Iron Age. There are Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, West Germanic, Scandinavian lines (tmrca - Iron Age). Central Europeans: tmrca- Bronze Age;
Russian-Slavic lines are rare.
