Good point! The USA beat the british not once, but TWICE!
It was the british that burned the whitehouse, (canada didnt exist then, but i understand why they would want to claim it) but the USA won the war of 1812: the naval blockade stopped and brits got sent running out of new orleans.
Actually if you really think about it; the USA beat the UK 3 times if you include the civil war, when the UK backed the southern slave states.
So yea...American beat the british in 3 wars total.
Sad how the US was stupid enough to turn around and spend so many lives saving the uk and western europe from russia or the nazis.
What a waste that was.

2020 and someone believing that the USA saved Europe from nazis and russians by love instead of self-interest to impose their own politico-economical system.
That's between idiocy and hipocresy.

In the case of Spain, I think that is more present the loose of Cuba, Puerto Rico and Philipines than the firsts independences of Iberoamerican countries after the Napoleonic wars. Also is a more recent issue.
What is ridiculous is the image of Bolivar that Venezuelan governement try to offer. Bolívar was part of the privilefed class in Southamerica, in his final days he owned plantations and slaves, maybe in it´s time they could consider him progressist, because his ideas were influenced by illustration , but he was profoundly class-biased and who most supported him were "criollo" local oligarchy.
Nothing to do with the image of proto-socialist that Chávez regime spread.

I mean though that Oliver Cromwell destroyed the monarchy, the monarchy has influence not power, the Winston Churchill was the power in WW2. The British Royal Family is a soap opera at this point. Americans had no loyalty to Parliament which isn't the crown although they like to think they are.
