I agree, my comment was written as a response to his statement:It's a bit silly to argue about ethnic affiliation of medieval peoples, don't you think? Especially when it comes to South Slavs, that is.

That's kind of true, especially in Bosnia. The Orthodox Christians identified as Serbian, Catholic Christians identified as Croatian and Muslims identified as Bosnian. I guess just because they were of certain religious denomination they assumed they were directly related to the medieval states of Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia since Croatia went Catholic and Serbia went Orthodox and Bosnia going Muslim when the Ottomans conquered it.
