From your description it sounds like Skoro is a populist, why would he want more power for Presidential position?

He is not a populist but his range is biggest, he has support ranging from Green to Far Right.
Croatia was originally semi-Presidential system (like Russia), where President had lot of executive power. Socialists changed it in 2000s after our first President died without consulting with people.

Škoro wants radical changes and if he was elected, he couldn't do anything in current Presidential position who has basically ceremonial power.
2 of our last Referendums were illegally cancelled by ruling Party, and current PM is from that crowd.

Škoro will bring him down.
