Irreligious people being more pro-gay than religious people is something that just occurs in Abrahamic/ex-Abrahamic societies. The reason is cause ex-Abrahamic people are tricked into thinking that the only reason people can be anti-gay is purely out of religious conviction, so they automatically become pro-gay once they leave the religion due to associating anti-LGBT thoughts exclusively with their religion of upbringing.
But if you look at societies without an Abrahamic background, you'll see that being irreligious isn't often related with being pro-gay like in the case of China and Vietnam.
Being pro-LGBT is related to the Western culture of individualism which is why you'll also see more pro-LGBT sentiment among Westerners that identify as Christians compared to some non-Western groups such as Buddhists, Hindus, or other religious sects where LGBT behavior is not condemned in their religious texts (and only not condoned for cultural reasons).
Also, in the past, being pro-LGBT wasn't so heavily associated with being irreligious like it is today in countries with an Abrahamic background. That's why anti-LGBT sentiment was common among atheists in communist countries like the USSR before.
