I never had an issue with turning 30, and neither did I at 40. I don't feel "old" or even middle aged. To me, it's just another birthday. Yet the world around me has a problem. If I'm on some forum and I mention my age (even if people have seen my picture already) it's always the same "OMG you're 40?? "How do you cope with being that old". Yeah, I guess it's just because I have no right to exist anymore because I have had 40 birthdays (now prepping for my 41st). So maybe I should just not mention how old I am and let people think I'm as young as they want.

Dude, when you get old is it really worth living anymore? What awaits you in ripe old age is far worse than that sinking feeling that possesses you now. Don't trick yourself into thinking that your old age is going to be majestic. Your knees and back will hurt. Your bones will get brittle. Your eyesight will get worse. Your IQ will drop (starting at around 40). Your memory will get worse. You will be less capable of fighting illness.

Without kids or a family to support you in old age, you should just jump off a bridge the moment you have your first fall or need any kind of walking assistance, because it's all a slow brutal ride downhill from there. You will look back unto a lifetime of nothing.

My dad is almost 86. He was doing really well until he fell a couple of years ago. If you're old, just don't have a fall or an accident and you can live a very productive life.
