This paper explores the differences in gene expression of "BAZ1B" between AMH and archaics (neanderthals and denisovans) in terms of facial morphology and inferred behaviour.
They also use the example of Williams-Beuren syndrome to provide experimental evidence that the craniofacial and cognitive/behavioral phenotypes caused by alterations of the Williams-Beuren syndrome critical region can serve as a powerful entry point into the evolution of the modern human face and prosociality.
