Well, I don't know what to say. Perhaps Nutella just isn't for you. Italy has tons of different chocolates. Try Perugina or Novi.

My only real criticism of Nutella is an aesthetic one: how is it possible that a company from a country that is known for good design, uses such ugly jars and such a disgustingly ugly label ?

Look at the other Ferrero products ? Those look much better and Nutella should update to something that looks more.. luxurious, classy.

Their "Kinder" line also needs a fix.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Nutella is a cream. Jar-like packages most likely fit better. Personally I like it. I've no opinions about the logo. Agree that Rocher and Raffaello (which I love, especially the latter) have a better "classy" package but those are solid chocolates.

This is a cool nutella package:

Originally, chocolate is a luxury product (after all: cocoa has to be imported) and it's improved upon by chocolatiers. I think the package should reflect that. Something like Lindt's jars reflect this:

Or a smaller version of this with a metal lid:

Aesthetics package not always is synonym of taste and quality.

Milka for example is another that doesn't have "luxurious" packages but it tastes quite good imo.

Kinder Ferrero is an big industrial market not luxury one. There are other brands in Italy for that. Perugina, Pernigotti, Baci and Novi for example plus minor national ones that I won't mention now.

Yes but I think that the quality should be reflected by the package so Nutella and Kinder are severely understated. Milka too would be better off with a different wrapper.

One last thing I forgot: the target of "Kinder Bueno" and "Cereali" are meant to be kids (as the word Kinder itself suggests) and should be practical for them. You surely won't give this to kids for a snack.

Being a Dutch-speaker, I get the Kinder reference, yes (the word is the same as in German) but in the past designs in general used to be much better and I'd have no trouble giving something to my children that is well-designed and beautiful. It teaches them the value of a product and the value of beauty. Something totally lacking from today's society. The first two are early Hershey's wrappers as they would have looked in the late 19th and early 20th century:

So from where the understated ugliness ?

Wake up and smell the coffee.
