Remember whole countries became Christian at once sometimes, and it might have been a shock for them to lose all their feasts... so perhaps it can be historically justified. But yes, if one wants to be a purist in your faith, then those specific dates were of pagan origin and one can choose not to celebrate at those times, if you want to honour God by it. However I would not judge other Christians who genuinely use Easter and Christmas times to honour God.
Our ancestors could have done a way better job on eliminating european paganism forever, sadly they failed.
But I agree on the other things you said, I just start to mind people actually claiming christmas can be related to jesus birth when this is completly unbilical.

That is true but my opinion is that it was pagan but was replaced by jesus, jesus cleansed it but the thing here is now it is dechristianised and becoming more pagan again. If we celebrate really the birth and resurrection of jesus ok, but if we worship other Gods then it is pagan. And now consumerism is the new pagan God.

How do you feel about islamic fanatics destroying monuments of architecture and culture on the basis that these are pagan monuments?

As for me, I cannot as a Christian feel sad about pagan edifices being destroyed. All glory belongs to God and monuments to false gods will not stand.

I'm very surprised that that new statue of Baphomet in America is still standing... it is an abomination and should be destroyed as soon as possible.

I've looked at that American statue of Baphomet and I agree, it is a truest abomination. But when historical statues of Buddhas were being barbarically destroyed in Afghanistan I felt really sorry and angry.
