Azerbaijani singer refuses to sing with Armenian singer

On January 16, 2020, the Baku Serious Crimes Court continued the trial of Talish scientist, enlightener, journalist and politician Fakhraddin Aboszoda (Abbasov). The sixth court session was held. (Talysh is an ancient Iranian-speaking people (population of about one and a half million people) whose rights are violated in the most barbaric way in Azerbaijan.)

One quotation from the court record:

During the meeting, the prosecutor asked Aboszoda:

- You declared the Talysh as a friendly people towards Armenia.

- I still think so. I am a supporter of the friendship of all peoples, including Armenians.

- Come on, I’ll ask otherwise. The Armenians now have a conflict with us. Suddenly they will be stronger, and completely capture all of Azerbaijan. How do you feel about this then? What will they do for the Talysh - will they give you autonomy, or will they separate you into a separate state?

- This is not even a question. You imagine something, fantasize. What does this have to do with the lawsuit?!

The judge expressed a reaction to this dispute, turning to the defendant:

- So the question has remained unanswered?

- I would not say that the answer is not given. There is no answer to this question. Please write so in the protocol.

SemperOpernball artistic director Hans-Joachim Fry decided that Armenian opera singer Ruzan Mantashyan could perform at the opening of the ball in Dresden. Information about this is published on the official page of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe on Facebook.

According to the publication, the night before, Fry informed the chairman of the FAAE, Ashot Grigoryan, that he had made such a decision after two days of negotiations and asked Grigoryan to warn Agence Massis Opera, with whom the Armenian singer collaborates. The answer to this proposal will be given today.

No matter what answer Ruzan Mantashyan gives, Grigoryan thanks Fry for a fair decision.

Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Meri Akopyan not allowed in Baku.

Ukraine complained to the EU about Azerbaijan after Baku did not allow Meri Akopyan to participate in the Conflict Analysis seminar under the auspices of the Eastern Partnership because of her Armenian origin.

According to information, the seminar was held on January 13-16 in Baku and was organized by the European Union for the countries of the Eastern Partnership. Meri Akopyan was included in the delegation, as she is the head of the Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Adviser to the chairman of the Tallinn city council was detained at the Baku airport because of her Armenian origin

Last year on 23 March, an Estonian citizen of Armenian origin, Karina Oganesyan, was detained at the Baku airport. She was kept at the airport for 12 hours, after which she was sent back.

Karina Oganesyan is an adviser to the chairman of the Tallinn city council and chairman of the youth wing of the Estonian Centre Party. She went to Baku as part of the Estonian delegation to an international education conference.
