Barbarian Invasions or Migration Period. How your school/country views this period?
Just curious. It seems different countries have different opinions.
Do you consider it a "dark" period and of "decadence".

We call it "de Grote Volksverhuizing' (The Great Migration) here and it is considered the fall of the Roman Empire here - it is seen as a somewhat dark period - dark because not all that much was written down. At least when I was young and in middle school.

my high school was stupid af. My world history teacher honestly believed humans had brains the size of our fist 10,000 years ago, and my US history teacher thought the anglo-saxons where the normans like wtf

I don't know others but I heard that nowadays European countries and other non Euro territories who were part of the Roman Empire use the word "Barbarian Invasions" and see it like a period of decadence but perhaps not every ex Roman Empire territory.

The great migration of nations is the right definition. Usually, this term covers the period 4-7 century, but migrations have occurred constantly in human historical development. The use of the term barbarian invasions is mainly when analyzed by the Roman Empire or in the religious sense - Christians and Gentiles / barbarians /. But who is in the right to judge, who is a barbarian, and who is not?

Neither are correct terms.
The Hunnic invasion, their tactics and history should be taught, as they were the spark that triggered the domino effect. Little is mentioned of the Huns in these stupid school lessons.

Græcoroman Imperialism attacked several groups on their frontiers and this resulted in their conquest by "migrating barbarians". So, all the Italians in New York are either Ostrogoths or Lombards; all the Mexicans in California are Visigoths, Swabians, Vandals and Alans? Maybe they do belong in America.
