LOL. It is precissely southern Europeans the ones that have the biggest variability in the world. You can find Scandinavian looking types (like me for example), german looking, russian looking, Uk looking, and southern European lookng in any single city in Southern Europe (at least in Spain). Maybe you don´t know our History (y esto viniendo de un argentino es bastante ridículo pues sois básicamente una mezcla de Italia más España) but there were many different ethnicities comming here (even "germanic" people ruled Spain for 300 years). North-Africans look brown as a whole, very little differences. And northern Europeans have less variability than southern Europeans: most of them looking germanic with a small "Med" variety.

Central Europeans are proud to be that, but Southern Europeans always be something else. They are not universally Mediterranean and there exist Alpine and Nordic types, yes. But my point was the Med Italian looks nothing like the "Med" Saudi Arabian.

I personally can't stand classifications done here and other anthro sites. For one thing, 90 percent of all classifications are derived from humanphenotypes.com, which is bs. All it is a bastardization of all anthropologist work, including Coon's, and trying to combine them all. Also the plates do not match the descriptions at all most of the time. Eickstedt “Anatolid” is what Coon called Armenoid, yet they are two separate phenotypes on that site.

I used to think HP was bullshit as well, but they credit Eickstedt and Lundman, who are good racial anthropologists. At least they differentiated Southern Europeans from North Africans and 'Orientalid' Arabs.

For example, no anthropologist has coined the term Pontid but it is referred to Eastern European version of Atlanto Meds.

Honestly, if a Greek or Spaniard gets classified here without anyone knowing their origins, most likely both would be classified as Atlanto Med. However, if they know that a person is Greek, he is automatically a Pontid.

I agree. Every Greek here is Pontid, every Persian is Iranid, every Assyrian is Assyroid and every Armenian is Armenoid. But blame the classifiers, not the classification.

No, most phenoTYPES used for modern classification were created by Eickstedt, Biasutti and Lundman.
Coon part was Borreby / Brunn stuff.
He didn't invent Baltids, Phaelids, Paleo-Sardinian, Berberids, Saharids, Turanids, Atlantids etc... Not to mention Nordics, Dinarics, Alpinids or Armenoids which were from Ripley /Deniker.

And what for Coon was proper Med from Yemen, was Orientalid / Arabid for those guys above.

What we call Mediterranean phenotype just seems to be present in places like Anatolian farmer ancestry, as well as Caucasus Hunter Gatherer ancestry predominate. So while Southern Europeans have this at highest levels, Levantines and Jews and yes even North Africans carry a high degree of this admixture. And yeah it's kind of silly because Caucasus Hunter Gatherer ancestry never lived around the Mediterranean in prehistoric times, it evolved in the Caucasus and Zagros mountain range.

A lot of people do think Georgians and Armenians look "Mediterranean", and I believe Georgians are more CHG than ENF.

That's always been laughable to me. Armenians and Georgians are by and large, non-Meds. Unless, you consider the Pontid type to be med then there are some but surely that doesn't comprise the majority who are variations of Taurid types and Alpine influences. The truest Meds live in Southern Europe.

In Spain the people of the Mediterranean coastal regions are proud since they love their sea, but the rest, especially those of the Atlantic regions, do not give a shit about the mediterranean brotherhood.

By the way, the Japanese have dark hair and eyes, should they also be proud mediterranid?

I think we should be proud because we reflect one of the three great lineages that made Europe what it is. It doesn't have anything to do with looks or pigmentation. Those two things are incidental and a matter of taste.

This thread once again shows how badly some spaniards has degenerated over the past few centuries.
