President Trump’s signing of an executive order Thursday that allows students to pray in public schools is good news that should be welcomed by all Americans – whether or not they believe in God and the power of prayer.

As a pastor, I have a suspicion that the historic ruling of the Supreme Court in 1962 to remove prayer from our schools may have contributed to the litany of social ills that have plagued America since.


These ills include the breakdown of the family, the rise in violent crime, the opioid epidemic, the rising suicide rates and the general hopelessness that pervades our younger generations. The list goes on and on.

Before the Supreme Court ruling – in the days when prayer was allowed – some teachers offered their own prayers in school, while others read the Lord’s Prayer or recited the well-known Psalm 23.

Prayer is good but we also need action of a more material nature: assistance to families in poverty, proper nutritious school lunches, PE, education, after school activities so children won't end up out on the street where they slide into a life of crime and marriage counselling for families that are falling apart. Just telling people to pray is one thing but if it isn't followed by consistent action to protect children and the family unit - then it's mere cheap hypocrisy. But then again: both the American Left and Right have something on common: they are both a bunch of Pharisees: one for the "Church of Woke" and its Satanic ideals and the other one for Zionism while forgetting about the moral lessons of Christianity.

In the United States, child poverty has reached record levels, with over 16 million children now affected. Food banks are facing unprecedented demand, and homeless shelters now have long waiting lists, as families who have known a much better life have to leave their homes, sometimes with just a few days notice.
