Default Why is it somewhat common for mulattos to have hazel/green eyes while rare for mestizos/castizos?

    Hey guys,

This a pattern I have noticed. I have friend whose dad is Italian and mom is black and yet he is light skinned with hazel or green eyes. I noticed this as well with other mulattos. It's not the norm yet you see it more often. Meanwhile, with mestizos it's rare. I've been living with mestizos my whole life and met tons and most have dark eyes and dark hair. Some people post the examples of Benjamin Pratt and Q'orianka Kilcher as examples of balanced mestizos and they also have dark hair/dark eyes.

Moreover, I seen it with Castizos as well. For instance, some people have classified Chicharito and Andrea Luna as castizos. Initially, I thought both were mestizos but most people are saying they are castizos. It's likely I've met a bunch of castizos(in both the US and Peru) which I assumed where mestizos or indomestizos due to hair and eye color.

    What do you guys think?

My brother was born with blue eyes but then they turned hazel as he grew up. I think he looks quadroon but with finer features than me. His hair is curlier too. The rest of my siblings have regular brown eyes.

That depend of the euro input i guess. In my country we have those groups and the ratio of light eyes are more common in harnizos/castizos than self reported mulattos(or places around).

I've never seen an American Indian with light eyes like I've seen some African Americans and the former group is more European on average. Both have the same type of euro input if that makes sense. I think that would be a fair comparison.

also its more common to see them with blonde hair
a lot of my black family members have light eyes, from blue to green to hazel
others have blonde hair, light brown and such hair color

even in afro-mexican communities, you can find many of them with these type of features as well (they are not the majority though)
while if you go to indo-mestizo places or such, its not so common at all

the only common thing are gingers, i never ever seen pred blacks or mulatto gingers, those are very rare to me
but ive seen indo-mestizo gingers in mexico before

im not saying that mestizos with light eyes are rare, but i find those trait a bit more common among black admix people
but then again, to me black people do not have black hair, unlike Amerindians who have black hair
black people can naturally have brown hair

In Afro-american it would be easier to find (due to the euro-NW)

    but it exists in mestizos

Perhaps some blacks from Senegal would already have clear eyes from North Africans

I don't believe mulattos are lighter eyed than mestizos unless you show statistics about it. One important thing to consider: Mestizos are Iberian+Native. Mulattos in USA/UK/CAnada are NW Euro+ Black. Iberians are mostly dark eyed, NW Euros are mostly light eyed.

Post sources when comment topics and shits about Spain, most Spaniards have light eyes

....Therefore, a team of Spanish researchers led by the researcher of the Unit of Intraocular Tumors of the Adult at the University Hospital of Valladolid, María Saornil, has developed a classification in which it analyzes the distribution of eye shadow in the Spanish population with the aim of measuring, in a next phase of their study, their relationship with different types of ailments.

The results of the classification, pioneer in Spain, show that the distribution of iris colors is 16.3% blue-gray, 55.2% green-hazelnut and 28.5% brown-black, “an inverse distribution to that achieved for other populations " So, as the study points out, more than half of the Spanish population has green or light brown eyes.
