South Korea is one of the most developed countries today. Lets take a tour of Korea and see modern Korean cities. Seoul, Busan, Daegu and many more. Enjoy South Korea in 4k! #SouthKorea

Despite living in Japan for five years, I've never been to visit another Asian country before. Follow along with me as I visit Seoul, South Korea for the first time. Rough order of places I visited: - Incheon airport - Hongdae (Hongik University) - Deoksugung Palace - Nakwon-Dong (little alleys) - Mangwon traditional market - Gwanghwamun (little houses and big apartments by palace walls) - Cheonggyecheon (stream) - Myeong-Dong (touristy market) - Itaewon (U.S. Yongsan Garrison / international area) - Yeouido (financial district and park south of Han river)

Hendrick Hamel was shipwrecked in Korea in 1653, becoming the first Westerner to provide a first-hand account of life in the kingdom. He describes a kingdom of contrasts - blatant liars, yet incredibly credulous, very well educated but terribly misogynistic - with a range of advanced ideas, underfloor heating in their houses being one remarkable example.

Some interesting facts about South Korea

    1) The name “Korea” comes from Goryeo, which was the name given to the dynasty established by General Wang Geon in AD 918. Goryeo means “high and clear.” Some poetic interpretations of the name Korea are “Land of High Mountains and Sparkling Streams” and “Land of the Morning Calm.”

    2) In Korea, babies are considered one year old at birth.

    3) When a Korean’s name is written in red ink, this indicates that that person is about to die or is already dead.

    4) South Korea is the largest market for plastic surgery per capita in the world. It is estimated between 1/5 and 1/3 of the women in Seoul have gone under the knife for at least one cosmetic procedure.

    5) More than 2 billion people have viewed the “Gangnam Style” music video of Korean K-pop artist Psy since 2011. It topped the charts in 30 countries around the world. World leaders including U.S. President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron have mimicked the dance. The song refers to the Gangnam District of Seoul

    6) Along with Tokyo residents, Seoulites get the least amount of sleep of any residents of major cities in the world, just fewer than 6 hours a night.

    7) For three weeks after a baby’s birth in South Korea, a straw rope of chili peppers or pine needles known as kumjul is hung across the door of the house to frighten away evil spirits and warn people not to enter. Seaweed soup and rice are also offered to Samsin Halmeoni, the Korean grandmother spirit, every morning and evening for a week. These foods are also given to the new mother to speed her recovery

    8) Christmas is an official holiday in South Korea, with almost 1/3 of South Koreans being Christians. Santa Claus may be wearing a blue, rather than red, suit in South Korea, and he is also known as Santa Kulloso (Grandfather Santa)

    9) South Korean wedding garments are usually red, which is a symbol of good fortune.

    10) South Korea is the world leader in internet connectivity. Approximately 92% of the country’s population are internet users, and they boast the world’s fastest average connection speed.

The Yanghwa Bridge (양화대교) is an eight lane bridge spanning the Han River in Seoul. The bridge connects Mapo-gu on the north side of the river to Yeongdeungpo-gu on the south side of the river. The bridge is buttressed by the eastern end of the island of Seonyudo, home to Seonyudo Park (선유도공원). The bridge is a combination of two bridges: the old bridge, originally called the "Second Han River Bridge" (제2한강교), completed in 1965; and the new bridge, completed in 1982. The old bridge was the first bridge built by Korean technology after independence in 1945 and served as the gateway from Seoul to the west coast. Due to increasing traffic, construction for an expansion started in 1979 and the new eight lane bridge was completed in February 1982. The old bridge's upper structure has a width of 18.0m, length 1,053m and is composed of steel plate girders and concrete box girders. The new bridge has a width of 16.1m, length 1,053m and is a steel plate girder bridge. The lower structure has an open caisson well foundation. The bridge went through repairs and renovations in 1996 and reopened in April 2002 with additional ramps. As of February 2010, the bridge is once again going through renovations by widening the space between bridge posts to allow 5000t ships to pass.[1] Yanghwa Bridge also has a song named after it called "양화대교 Yanghwa Bridge" by R&B/soul singer Zion.T in 2014 and is the only bridge in South Korea to have such notability. - from Wikipedia

Hello my friends, I'm Seoul Walker. Today, let's walk around Gangnam Station on Friday evening. In this video you can see many people going home after a work, waiting for the bus, and many young people coming out to enjoy the night. Actually most clubs in Gangnam have been shut down for over a month because of the coronavirus. Also most people wear masks when they go out. These days it's so easy to get a mask in South Korea. People can buy two masks a week at every pharmacy in the country. So we no longer have to wait in line to buy a mask. Because the government and mask companies has made more than 10 million masks a day. Currently, 50 million people live in Korea. It's 1500won(USD 1.2) for one. In fact, Gangnam is the most popular area especially for young people in Seoul. People don't have a panic, but of course we always think this situation is serious and most people are participating in social distance except famous places like Gangnam. Enjoy your walk.

    ________

Gangnam Station is a station in the Gangnam District and Seocho District of Seoul, South Korea, on the Seoul Subway Line 2. This station serves as a crucial transfer point between Line 2 and buses to all over Seoul and southern Gyeonggi Province. It became the northern terminus of the Shinbundang Line on October 29, 2011, the southern terminus being at Jeongja Station. Both stations have two tracks and two side platforms. The area surrounding the station is an important commercial and entertainment district. The station is located at the western end of Teheranno, home to many corporate headquarters and impressive towers, while the area immediately to the north of the station is densely packed with bars, restaurants and clubs. There are also many shops in the subway station below ground. In 2007, the area was the 10th most expensive shopping street in the world with an average rent of US$431 per square foot.[3] The section of Gangnam Boulevard from exit No.2 of this station to exit No.5 of Sinnonhyeon Station of Line 9 is designated as a smoke-free zone by the Gangnam District office.[4] Line 2 runs on the right hand track, whereas the Shinbundang Line runs on the left hand track; this is because the Shinbundang Line is a national railway line (which typically runs on the left), while Line 2 is a subway line (which typically runs on the right in Seoul). This can be confusing to tourists making a transfer here, as many tourists are accustomed to riding on either the left-hand track or the right-hand track. -from Wikipedia

Express Bus Terminal Station is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 3, Line 7, and Line 9. The stations are located in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul. It is located underneath the Seoul Express Bus Terminal (a.k.a. Gangnam Bus Terminal). There are several stores, including clothing and book stores, located throughout the station. The station also offers free internet portals for browsing the web and checking e-mail, which are located by the number 3 line. According to KT-published statistics in December 2010, the station was the network's most popular WiFi hotspot of all Seoul Metropolitan Subway stations, followed by Sadang Station, Dongdaemun Station, Jamsil Station and Jongno 3-ga Station. On November 19, 2010, the network's WiFi traffic at the station peaked at 23 gigabytes. This station is one of the most crowded subway station in the country, along with Gangnam, Jamsil, Samseong, Sindorim, and Sillim Station. -from Wikipedia

Lotte World Tower (Korean: 롯데월드타워) is a 123-floor 555.7-metre (1,823 ft) skyscraper located in Seoul, South Korea. It opened to the public on April 11, 2017, and is currently the tallest building in South Korea and the fifth tallest in the world. Lotte World Tower is a landmark in Seoul. It is the first 100-story building in Korea. As of its completion, it was the fourth-highest tower in the world and the highest in the OECD countries. The conceptual design calls for a slender cone with convex, gently curved sides. An exterior of pale-coloured glass draws inspiration from Korean ceramics and features accents of metal filigree. Jamsil Station is an underground station on Line 2 and Line 8 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. Lotte World is continuous with the Line 2 station. The station is also called Songpa-gu Office Station (송파구청역), due to the proximity of the office building (right outside Exit 10 of the Line 8 station) The Line 2 station is located in Jamsil-dong and the Line 8 station is located in Sincheon-dong. Both neighborhoods are within Songpa-gu, Seoul. -from Wikipedia
