Default Italy yields to pressure, withdraws from gas project with Hellenic Cyprus and Greece

Italy’s foreign minister expresses doubts over feasibility of EastMed pipeline

Luigi Di Maio says $7.4 billion cost and construction process of line to ship gas to Europe are prohibitive; deal was inked between Greece, Cyprus and Israel earlier this month

Italy’s foreign minister on Saturday expressed concerns about the long-term feasibility of a pipeline project between Greece, Cyprus and Israel to ship gas to Europe.

“It is obvious that the EastMed pipeline project proposed by Greece will not be an option in the medium- and long-term compared to other projects, when its cost and the construction process are taken into consideration,” Luigi Di Maio told Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.
“I believe that this infrastructure, which can play a positive role in diversifying European resources, must prove that it can attract the necessary capital for its construction and it can be economically sustainable,” di Maio said.

There is a difference between "expressing doubts" and withdrawing from a project, canine...

This was a really ridiculous idea, and would only bring very expensive gas to Europe. We don't need it. We can get cheap, quality Russian gas from TurkStream and NordStream 2.

How do you know the price of the gas already? How do you know that American gas transported by ships won't be cheaper? Even Turkey buys from the U.S. of A.!!!

    Furthermore...

Di Maio reminds of the Old Genoese.

Remember Genoa? In 1261,they helped Orthodox Greeks take Constantinople back from other Latin.

Then Byzantines gave them Pera (Galata) which was opposite shore of Constantinople city, on the other side of Golden Horn.

Genoese built walls and appropriated the area in 1306. And as Greeks annoyed them.. Italian vessels started to carry Turks (Ottomans) to the Balkans through Galipolli. Genoa thus helped Turks to set foot in Balkans.

Di Maio is Genoese. He knows Italian interests must not be thrown into fire for the sake of saving lower Orthodox Greeks.

I know this is kinda impossible since we have leftists clowns in charge (probably neither our current weak moderate right wing politicians would agree) but I'm still of the idea that Lybia should return an Italian colony. Everything would be solved, both migrants and oil/gas whatever.

You have to be reminded that Di Maio is temporary and that Salvini is surging in the polls...

It's funny how Greeks are fast to make deals with Semite Jews, while they are also fast to critic Turks for dealing with Semite Arabs.

One Greek told me: "You are dealing with Arabs"... how's that different to dealing with Israel?

    both groups are anti-european.

Basically you are praying towards Makkah 5 times a day, you are obliged to visit Maccah at least once in your life and you must learn Arabic in order to understand the quran properly.

We don't have to learn anything Jewish, except for a few phrases like "Amen" and "Hallelujah", but them Jews have to learn more important Greek words like "Economy" and "Politics"...

Actually Haftar who is backed by Russia, Egypt and Wahhabi bigots (Saudi, UAE etc) oppose and threaten Italian interests in Libya. Haftar must be defeated.
