Default Riviera Maya - Bayahibe - Punta Cana - Jamaica

Planning on going to one of these destinations this summer (last week of July\first week of August). Has anyone ever been to one of these destinations? I am assuming quite a few of you in the northern hemisphere have.

Which one would you recommend and if possible, specify the reasons. My main concerns: toxic sargassum seaweed and hurricanes. Apart from that, all of these places sound appealing to me though Mexico seems to have more options. Jamaican tourism doesn't seem as developed as the other destinations mentioned and it is the option I am least inclined to but perhaps someone has a different opinion?

I haven't been to any of those places, but I have lived in Mexico. I recommend Mexico. Mexico will have better facilities and be more sophisticated than both DR and Jamaica. I did visit the Bahamas and I found it too touristy. Jamaica may be the similar due to the cultural similarities (West Africa plus British).

I can say that depending on the area, DR is a hotbed for prostitution (for both men and women). But, on the other hand, it may be cheaper. But, as I said, it depends on the area.

It is hard, it all depends on what you are looking for
Are you also looking for to learn about the ancient culture other than just enjoy your time at the Caribbean coast? then your answer will be Riviera Maya

I dont know what others have to offer thought but I know in Bayahibe, Punta Cana and Jamaica, you will not get to explore the ancient culture of the people that once lived there or get to meet them
and I dont know what they can offer you that other Caribbean islands cant to be honest because at the end of the day, all those places you have on your list are great to visit

but I personally will recommend you Tulum, it has to be the best Caribbean area, its filled with history, with diversity, with so much culture, music, good food, hospitality among other things
I enjoyed my time in Tulum and I even consider myself retiring there when I am old asf

Mayan Riviera if you want to see Chichen Itza and a resort full of Americans but Bayahibe is better

Thank you for your replies, I only saw them now (had kinda forgotten this thread). I ended up choosing Mexico (Playa del Carmen). We might do an excursion to Chichen Itza but I am not so sure about Tulum ruins.
