Nice thread. Many of these colonos are more in touch with their Euro ancestors's cultures/traditions than the Italians/Germans from Italy/Germany.
By the way, do you have an explanation to why Polentones settled mainly in the countyside and formed isolated communities, while the Terrones went mainly to the cities and assimilated faster to the Brazilian population?

The apex of North Italian immigration happened in late 19th century when Brazil was needing workers for coffee fields and people to settle empty lands while North Italy was poorer than South Italy, South Italians came in a later wave and immigrated to a country that was becoming increasingly urban and industralized.

When an European settles in America they become Americanized, this is normal, when someone migrate to another country culture becomes mongrelized.

Germans have taken the best lands, whereas Northern Italians got mostly the sierra regions

Somewhat true, it's very difficult qualifying Italo-Americans as "Italians", they became a different group simply. Not even all of them are 100% italian, there have been mixing with oher euro ethnicities as well. I have cousins that are 25% french and 75% italian for example. Few can speak italian nowadays, only the oldest people in the families, that emigrated in the 50s in their twenties (like one of my great-aunt), not to mention the cultural habits and the gastronomy that got distorted.

Judging italians by seeing Italo-Americans (not only from USA but from all the continent) is a great error for the reasons that I've given.

I will not count all the famous people that are also only half but they are quite many.

"Allobroges vaillants ! Dans vos vertes campagnes,
    Accordez-moi toujours asile et sûreté,
Car j'aime à respirer l'air pur de vos montagnes,
Je suis la Liberté ! la Liberté !"
