Yesterday (Edit: 30 January 2020), The Boeing Company released its first annual loss in over two decades. The ongoing Boeing 737MAX debacle keeps haunting the company who was once the pride of American engineering industry. What has gone wrong? In this episode we will dive back into the history of Boeing to try and answer that very question. We will look at the merger with McDonnell Douglas and the move of headquraters from Seattle to Chicago. We will look at a leadership style that has gone from being driven by engineers to being driven by profits and share-holder returns. Stay tuned!

Why Is it that Airbus has still not stolen ALL of the orders that Boeing had for the Boeing 737MAX? How come that the costumers are not leaving Boeing in droves and signing up to their biggest competitor, Airbus? In Todays episode we will look at the very complex world that the airlines have to navigate when it comes to buying new aircraft. I will give you 3 different reasons for why we are seeing what we are seeing right now so stay tuned to the end of the video.

The Boeing 737 MAX was created to replace the current 737 Next Generation models and compete against its European equivalent, the Airbus A320neo. Both the 737 MAX and the A320neo are part of a new batch of more efficient, quieter and less polluting airplanes. However, the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing may have made a terrible mistake in its business strategy, simply by not launching in time to be able to compete against Airbus. The European manufacturer's A320neo model was put into service a year and a half before the North American model. But just over a year after the 737 MAX entered service, on October 29th, 2018, Lion Air Flight 610 crashed shortly after taking off from Soekarno Hatta Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia. And even though it seemed strange for such a new plane to crash, on March 29th, 2019, another Boeing 737 MAX 8, operated by Ethiopian Airlines, also crashed shortly after taking off from Bole airport. Since then this type of plane has been banned from flying. Boeing is doing everything it can to get the regulators to re-certify it but the list of problems just keeps growing and the damages for the North American manufacturer could already be in excess of $30 billion. In this video we’ll tell you what’s happening, why Boeing’s star plane has become one of the most dangerous aircraft in the world and how a plane with such problems was certified to fly in the first place. This is a story you’ll want to know.
