Recorded on June 18, 2020 Dr. Scott Atlas is the Robert Wesson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, an accomplished physician, and a scholar of public health. For several weeks, Dr. Atlas has been making the case in print and in other media that we as a society have overreacted in imposing draconian restrictions on movement, gatherings, schools, sports, and other activities. He is not a COVID-19 denier—he believes the virus is a real threat and should be managed as such.

But, as Dr. Atlas argues, there are some age groups and activities that are subject to very low risk. The one-size-fits-all approach we are currently using is overly authoritarian, inefficient, and not based in science. Dr. Atlas’s prescription includes more protection for people in nursing homes, two weeks of strict self-isolation for those with mild symptoms, and most importantly, the opening of all K–12 schools.

The latter recommendation is vital for restarting and maintaining the economy so that parents are not housebound trying to work and educate their children. Dr. Atlas is also adamant that an economic shutdown, and all of the attendant issues that go along with it, is a terrible solution—the cure is worse than the disease.

Finally, Dr. Atlas reveals some steps he’s taken in his own life to try to get things back to normal.

Take for instance these British children that can't even go to their playground while... you guessed it.. an enclosed shopping mall has recently been reopened: the citizen as a rootless consumer slave.

It is incredible to see long lines of customers outside of barber shops fascinating to see how quickly and skills of cutting hair to keep the customers coming imagine faster you become more money you get. I made an appointment week back and made the responsible approach to getting a hair cut instead of staying in line for a hair cut. Mask face shields well professional manner. Everyone practiced all the measures currently in place to protect each other and wiser community.

Wow -- a lot to cover in today's video update. First: high fives all around for fans of quality science! Our months' long position that hydroxcholorquine+azithromycin+zinc and ivermectin showed strong promise as cheap, effective treatments vs covid-19 now appears to be proven correct. Of course, up until this point, the media has parroted "junk science" talking points designed to malign and vilify these treatment candidates, very likely on behalf of Big Pharma who can't reap $billions off of them. And in the meantime, millions of sick patients worldwide have likely been denied these drugs as a result. How many people have died/suffered as a result? Other big developments to note: covid-19 appears to have mutated into a more contagious strain, more evidence is mounting that the virus spreads in an airborne manner, and it seems herd immunity without a vaccine may be harder to achieve than previously anticipated. All this leads us to maintain our expectation that the world has a long way to go yet before the pandemic is anywhere near "under control".
