Here are some tidbits about the geography/history of Iran. There are two large deserts that occupy eastern and central Iran. They are Dasht-e-Kavir ( Great Plain) [ it is the 24th largest desert in the world] and Dasht-e-Lut (Emptiness Plain) [ it is the 25th largest desert in the world]
Birjand and Kerman are at the opposite edges of Dasht-e-Lut. Birjand is in the northeast of this desert and Kerman is southwest of the same desert.
So they are not next to each other, and there is no direct route to these two cities.
If you want to go from Birjand to Kerman you have to navigate the various cities that are at the edge of Dasht-e Lut.
Therefore, you go from Birjand to Zabol to Zahedan to Bam and then Kerman or you have to go from Birjand to Ferdos to Ardakan to Yazd and then Kerman.
So your statement may not be valid. A Birjandi may not have the same genetic makeup as a Kermani.
Also, Zabol is where the mythical figure Rustam from Shahnameh was from. Most of the Zabulistan region is in Afghanistan today. Rustam's mother Roudabeh was from Kabul. Zal who was his father was the king of Sistan.
Kurds of Khorasan speak Kurmanji and based on the linguistic and the naming of their cities and villages in Khorassan. Some think they were originally from Eastern Turkey and Azerbaijan. They moved from there and stayed in around cities of Qazvin, Tehran, Ray, and Varamin before the vast majority of them about 40,000-50,000 families were taken to Northern Khorasan. There are Iranians from Qazvin, Tehran (Zaferanieh part of Tehran is named after a Kurdish Village in Turkey), Varamin, and Ray who also claim partial/full lineage to the Kurds but many are Persianized.
