    Parroquia San Patricio
Lugar de interés de San Antonio de Areco

    Historia

Che Guevara is descended from Patrick Lynch.

He was born in Galway and was the second son of Captain Patrick Lynch of Lydycan Lydican Castle and Agnes Blake. The Lynches and the Blakes were two of the 14 tribes of Galway, who dominated the political, commercial, and social life of the city of Galway in western Ireland between the mid-13th and late-19th centuries.[2] The Lynches had been leaving Ireland since their defeat at the hands of Cromwell's forces and later those of William of Orange, Patrick left in the 1740s for Bilbao, Spain, and travelled from there to Rio de la Plata, where he settled and was a "regidor" (royal representative ) and captain in the "Milicias".[3] In 1749, in Buenos Aires, he married Rosa de Galayn y de la Camara, a wealthy heiress. He was successful enough to pass on substantial lands to his eldest surviving son, Justo Pastor Lynch who was a customs official under Viceroy Cisneros, also a captain and regidor. He was confirmed in his post by the revolutionary government on account of his well-known probity.

These are some of Lynch's descendants.

Patricio (Patrick) Lynch, (grandson), who set up a shipping company. He fitted the privateer frigate "Heroina", commanded by the American Colonel David Jewett which went after Spanish ships in 1820. Patricio Lynch married Maria Isabel de Zavaleta y Riglos, a descendant of the Conquistador Domingo Martínez de Irala through the Spanish aristocrat

Riquelme de Guzman, who was forced by Irala to marry Ursula, one of his mestizo daughters. Patricio and Maria are the great-great-grandparents of Che Guevara, (see below).

Estanislao Lynch, (grandson) a former officer in the Argentine Army of the Andes, brother of Patricio, above

Benito Lynch (grandson) who fought at Trafalgar

Patricio Lynch, (great-grandson), a rear-admiral in the Chilean Navy, who served in China in HMS Calliope, son of Estanislao, above

Francisco Lynch, (great-grandson), Argentine soldier who participated in the War of Independence and the civil wars of his country, and the Cisplatine War. Great-grandfather of Che Guevara.

Benito Lynch, (great-great-great-grandson), Argentine novelist and short-story writer of gaucho literature

Enrique Lynch del Solar, (great-great-grandson) Chilean painter, organizer of the modernist art movement in Valparaiso, Chile

Nicolas Barrios Lynch, (great-great-great-grandson) Argentine educator and researcher, founder of Argentina's Rural Libraries movement

Adolfo Bioy Casares, (great-great-great-great-grandson), Argentine writer

Ernesto Guevara Lynch, (great-great-great-grandson) father of Che Guevara

    Che Guevara, (great-great-great-great-grandson), Argentine revolutionary

The Lynches were part of the 14 Tribes of Galway.

They were the families of Athy, Blake, Bodkin, Browne, D'Arcy, Deane, Font, Ffrench, Joyce, Kirwan, Lynch, Martin, Morris and Skerritt. Of the 14 families, 12 were of Anglo Norman origin, while two — the D'Arcy (Ó Dorchaidhe) and Kirwan (Ó Ciardhubháin) families — were Normanised Irish Gaels.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribes_of_Galway

My great great great Grandmother was also a Lynch and all I know is that she married in Roscommon and had children there. I don't as yet have any info about her place of birth of even the date.

Che was actually in Ireland twice once in Dublin (1964) and in 1965 in Limerick.

He spent the night in Limerick and soaked up the Irish culture, albeit for that one night only. It can only be imagined what he made of the craic, and if the hairs on the back of his neck stood up when he heard the céilidh band play with the beat of the bodhrán pulsating around the room, as the drinkers tapped their feet.

It all happened on March 13th 1965, when Che’s flight from Prague to Havana was diverted to Shannon Airport, this after suspected engine trouble.
During an interview in 1969, his father, Ernesto, summed it up succinctly when he said, “The first thing to note is that in my son’s veins flowed the blood of the Irish rebels.”

    Santiago Phelan.
Former rugby player, he integrared the national team for a long time.

Phelan played for Argentine club Club Atlético San Isidro and represented the Argentina national rugby union team on 44 occasions, captaining the team twice. He represented Argentina at the 1999 and 2003 Rugby World Cups. Phelan retired due to injury in 2003 at the age of 29, he has since taken up coaching.

On March 13, 2008, Phelan was named as the coach of the Argentine rugby union team, filling the vacancy left by Marcelo Loffreda.[1]

On October 21, 2013, Phelan stepped down from his post as Los Pumas head coach with immediate effect, one year early from the end of his contract.[2] Over the 45 matches that he coached, he earned 13 wins, 31 defeats and 1 draw in his 5-year tenure. Since talking over in 2008, he has rarely earned successes. Argentina failed to get a test series victory under Phelan, with a draw against Scotland in 2008 and England in 2009, before losing 2-0
to Scotland in 2010. In 2012, Argentina again drew a test series against France, then losing 2-0 to England in 2013 including a record 32-3 defeat in the opening test, the biggest losing margin Argentina has had against England on home soil. He did lead Argentina to the occasional "upset", including a 9-6 win over Scotland at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and a 26-12 win over Wales, who at the time where the Six Nations Grand Slam Champions, at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

He led the Pumas to the 2011 Rugby World Cup knockout stage, but lost to hosts New Zealand in the Quarter Finals. In 2012, Phelan led Argentina into their debut year in The Rugby Championship, and proved hard to beat when home. He led Argentina to a 16-16 draw against South Africa at home in round 2, but failed to improve on that draw, ending bottom of the table with just 4 points and no wins.
In 2013 the pumas had record defeats, starting with the 73-13 defeat to South Africa in the opening round - which was South Africa's biggest winning margin over Argentina.[3] Like in 2012, they came close to beating South Africa at home, but their discipline proved costly with 5 penalties against them, South Africa won 22-17.[4] In Round 4, they came close to beating Australia in Perth after losing the match 14-13, but in the corresponding home fixture, Argentina lost 54-17 to Australia, a record losing margin against Australia at home.[5]

In October 2013, Phelan resigned as Argentina head coach after five and a half years in charge. Under Phelan, Argentina won 13, drew one and lost 31 of the 45 matches. [6]
