Default Do you consider Turks to be Arab?

Turks in this forum are sensitive about the word Arab.

    According to Israel:
    Arab means Muslim.

    According to Saudi Arabia:
Arabs are only in CCG countries.

    According to Syria:
Arabs are those who speak Arabic as their native language.

The thing is Turkey can be put in some of these categories, since Turkish language is pretty influenced by Arabic and Turks in general are Muslim. So what do you think, are they Arabs or no?

I view them the same way as Persians, i.e. look more or less similar to arabs and similar genetics but different language and somewhat different culture.

The more I think of it, the more I think that we should never have destroyed the Ottoman Empire.

Alright, the Turks had to be ousted from Europe, they had nothing to do on white Christian soil. But why did we want to eradicate Turkish sovereignty from the Middle East? Arabia, Syria, Palestina, Iraq etc. would be better off under Turkish command. Back then culture and religion were Arab, and anything political, administrative and military was Turkish. And it worked well and peacefully.

Maybe is it just what Mr Erdogan has in mind.

Ever since Manzikert and First Crusade, Turks have been spilling their blood to protect a "civilization" (if that really qualifies as one) which belongs to Arabs and Persians.

Actually, were it for that civilization and MENA people, even having an own country for Turks would be too much.
If there is Turkey today, it is thanks to an educated national elite the Turks had at end of Ottoman era (many of them with French education).
They departed from desert-centrist politics and cared for Turks. It is why there is Turkey.

Erdogan is currently filling Turkey with Arabs and other MENA Muslims, Turks are being replaced at home let aside expanding to Middle East. So the "high culture" you see today in countries like Yemen, Syria and Iraq shall likely take over Turkey in a near future. That's what's happening now.

It's a joke? Turks aren't Arabs - they don't speak Arabic language. Only Turks of Harran, Mardin and Antakya have any significant Arab ancestry.

No, I don't view them as Arabs. They are Turks, speaking a totally different language to Arabic. Turkish is influenced by Arabic and Persian though.
The minus with their culture is that they didn't build nowhere near as much as the Berbers in Spain. No such remains as the Berber palaces in the Balkans unfortunately. They took over the local buildings (churches mainly), painted them with white paint, put a minaret and declared it a mosque. Or they build mosques only and almost no public buildings.

Shame. They probably destroyed many amazing monasteries, fortresses and castles in the process.
