What is your favorite video game franchise?

I have amazing memories of the Real bout special Fatal Fury (first one) on Neo Geo but heard the new ones and KOF are not great? (i don't play anymore for a long time)

Same. And about the latest installments of SNK games it depends to me. For example the last Fatal Fury I'm aware of was Mark of the Wolves and it was a beautiful end to the saga:



Regarding King of the Fighters then I'd sadly have to agree. The last decent KOF I played was 2000:

For singleplayer and story driven games:

1) The KOTOR series

+ Engaging storylines on both games, with the first game being more lighthearded and in-line with a classic Star Wars tale, and the second game being on a league of its own.
+ Memorable characters, whether they be annoying or loveable.
+ Actually good story twists. (In the first game atleast)
+ Compelling philosophical points that still make me think to this day.
+ KREIA
- Combat is honestly meh, it can be cheesed too easily and there is a severe lack of balance between playstyles
- Both of the games run terribly on current gen soft and hardwares.
- Both games severly lack visuals both in graphics and effects/animations to the point where a diehard fan of both games cringe.

2) SOMA
+ Unmatched storytelling as far as thrillers go.
+ Philosophically one of the deepest games ever made.
- The game in itself is not "scary" and is much more of a walking simulator which might put some off.
- The monster encounters are repetitive and boring, possibly the weakest aspect of the game.

3) The GTA series.

+I like the dumb fun and cheesiness they offer me.

4) The Red Dead Redemption series:

+ Top notch storytelling on both games, and somehow captivating gameplay despite it being very barebones.

5) Bioshock

+ Few games come close to having their atmosphere.
+ Gameplay that holds up to this day

6) The recent DOOM games.

++ RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT IS DONE.
+ God-tier soundtracks.

7) The Total War series.

+ I have yet to play a game that gave me the same feeling when leading an army.
- Can bog down on multiplayer.

8) M&B Bannerlord.

+ A true sandbox game where the only limit you have is how much butter you can have in your inventory.

9) Paradox games.

+ Autism made manifest
- Autism made manifest
- generally shitty playerbases on all of their games.

For multiplayer:

1) Battlefield games.

+ Combined arms warfare that is pretty balanced and engaging.
+ Simple yet timeless formula
+ Amazing atmospheres bar the recent entries.
+ The Battlefield theme.
- Has sadly been hijacked by the woke agenda in the last 2 entries especially.
- As with any multiplayer EA games, the PC ports suffer from hackers.
- The series is slowly going in the direction of becoming more COD like with the squad call-ins added and the general feel steering in that way.

2) Titanfall 2.

+ The best movement shooter ever made. Period.
+ Amazing storymode, probably worth any penny spend on it by itself.
- It is pretty much dead sadly, the Northstar Client is a godsend thankfully.
- Suffers from the same hacker problems Battlefield does on PC.

3) Squad.

+ As far as MILSIM games go, the best option on the market.
- Pretty high skill floor to get adjusted to.
- The community can be very toxic at times.

4) Mordhau
+ Swords go chop-chop

5) Planetside 2.

+ Pretty much Battlefield but on steroids.
- Owned by a shitty company with predatory progression.

6) L4D and Vermintide/Darktide games.

+ Co-op stables.
+ Can be played by anyone with the most basic of interest in the genres.
- Fatshark is an awful developing studio.

7) The Plethora of RTS games that i have played over the years.

+ I like the dopamine rush they give me, and i can not bothered to write about every series i have played, but a ranking would go like:
DoW > AoE > C&C > CoH

Strategy and sport games were most memorable fun times to me.

Currently playing tennis arena on my phone, not a bad game at all

EA Sports , Blizzard, Epic Games. Grew up with those. Some GTA Vice City a bit later on.

Dota, Call of Duty, Counter strike back in the day. Gradually lost interest in video games after turning 20.

If Planetside 2 was seriously updated, it might draw me back into a little play time. It's be a fair while now though. The number of players and scale of play was amazing for a first person shooter.
