Are we living in an age of Radical Feminism?

Hey guys,

I grew up in the 90's, I mostly consumed American media. While you did get some feminists ideas here and there I felt that most of the movies were suitable for a male public. For instance, I'm rewatching the movie "100 girls" and while there are some feminist ideas, most of the movie caters to young heterosexual men. There are cute girls, cute girls in bikinis and cute girls taking their clothes off. It is a playful and fun movie, akin to movies starting from the 1960s.

However, if a movie like that would be release now in 2020, there would be OUTRAGE. People would boycott the theatre and say the movie promotes misogyny and female objectivization. Nowadays, only a movie like "book smart" with lesbian characters would be tolerated to talk about sex, or with LGBTQ characters.

The 90s and early 2000s was pretty untouched from identity politics and feminism. Feminism was literally a joke that would even get skewed and lampooned on TV and in movies. Movies and TV mostly showed young feminists as the weirdos. Also, there were not as many obese, overweight, ugly, or minority women shown in media. So that whole part of the movement was not present. Not to say those women weren't present, but they didn't have a huge platform to stand on.

All of feminism now is just muh vagina. The entirety of it. Every book ever written, every feminist character in every feminist movie, every feminist protest and demonstration of every kind is just the exact same simple primal concept performed in a variety of ways. My vagina. That's it. Hollywood kicked off this new retarded wave of feminism and the installing of this narrative that we need girls in everything.

I mean I don't have a problem with movies making a female the hero (once in a bluemoon), but generally, I want the protagonist to be a straight male, who is strong and has some moral character. I don't want to watch women and non-whites constantly being the hero.

Anyway, I have to admit Hollywood was even worse before. There was once a time when Hollywood depicted only shallow feminine love stories and happy dramas without any philosophical complexity. There was only "feel good" movies and movies for shallow voyeurs.

Oh god, no. They had butchered the Starwars and the Terminator franchises recently, and I don't want to see one of my favorite movies of all time get canned as well. This movie is the sole reason why I bought the Red Dead Redemption 2 game.

There are many types of films, some pro-men and some pro-women, it depends ...

The 90's reminds me of those family and pro-woman films, where a man exchanges his "old" woman for another young woman (as if it were something easy for an average middle-class and middle-aged man). There are also those very rare cases where a man had two families with children and said that for women who traveled on business
