I swore the second time that I went to India, I would see the Kamakhya Mandir in Assam, but unfortunately, there was flooding there and I couldn't go. I've seen the Ajanta caves. I enjoyed my stay in Rishikesh and if you want to take a dip in the Ganga, that's the place to do it. I went to Cochin Kerala (my first and only time in the cultural South), but the girl I brought along, an ex-friend of mine, decided she didn't want to sleep with me (despite all the signs of interest she had shown me previously including making out with me), and it was grueling sleeping in a bed next to a hot girl for several days where I couldn't even touch her. I reasoned that that must have been how the Buddha felt when he was tempted by the seductive forces of Mara. lol. I managed to eat plenty of fish and buffalo, and found beer to drink as well as a Cuban cigar which I brought back to the US. There is an old Dutch cemetery and Dutch buildings in Cochin and a Jewish quarter.

There are extremely good places in the North long Himalayas if you want to enjoy with friends or groups. They should be more fun. places in Uttarkand, Kashmir, Kullu/Manali/Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Darjeeling etc...

I have been to Jaipur, Pune, Mumbai (I heard Mumbaiyya Hindi for the first time after hearing Marathi, which I don't speak or understand, for months. So refreshing.), Jodhpur, Udaipur, Delhi, Rishikesh, Calcutta, Varanasi, that Himalayan town with the bhang lassi with a bunch of Russians and Jews (starts with a 'P'), Mussoorie, Agra (outside of the Taj, there's nothing there, I even likened it to Hell), and Cochin.

I was really impressed with Mumbai and I would've liked to have stayed there for 9 months instead of Pune (even though I made friends, including a serious ex-girlfriend here). The Mumbaiyya dialect of Hindi is really cool. The Victoria Terminus, the beaches, the Gate of India, all excellent. And of course, the Kamakhya Mandir in Assam is still high on my list. And I missed Goa, which I want to see one day.

Pushkar is the place with all the Russian and Jewish hippies. My friends and I went in to a place called Blue Moon that served bhang lassi and all the teachers from our program were already there!

Pushkar is usually colorful. The Goa beaches also I heard full of Russian and Jewish. You should go on newly opened Buddhist circuits or the Temple circuits.
